Ntsweletsoku Community encouraged to report GBV cases

Due to a high number of unreported cases of Gender Based Violence in Ntsweletsoku in the Ramotshere Local Municipality, the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management deemed it fit to mobilise different stakeholders and hold an awareness campaign on Prevention of Gender Based Violence against vulnerable groups.

The community of Ntsweletsoku gathered at Setete Sports ground, and received presentations from stakeholders such as Ntsweletsoku Tribal Authority, SAPS, Department of Correctional Services, Community Policing Forum, Faith Based Organizations, Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality, Department of Health, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Social Development, National Prosecuting Authority, and Dirisanang Information & Care givers, Ex Offender and Surviving GBV victim.

Each stakeholder was given a platform to enlighten the community on how to deal with Gender Based Violence happening in their households.

Social Development works well with Dirisanang Care givers and they emphasized that women and children must not be afraid to seek help from Trauma Center at any time of the day or night.

Law enforcement shared the same sentiments as Faith Based Organizations. They encouraged people to stop being afraid to report gender based and domestic violence cases.
